Volunteer to Career Ward Clerk Support, EAU, West Cumberland Hospital

An exciting opportunity to take part in our Volunteer to Career programme on the Emergency Assessment Unit, as a Ward Clerk. EAU are an acute fast paced area, admitting assessing and transferring patients to accommodate emergency admissions. The Emergency Assessment Unit is a 27 bedded Unit providing acute care to emergency admissions.

The Volunteer to Career Programme enables you to complete essential mandatory training and a requirement to also complete 60 hours (approx. 4 hours per week) supporting the Ward Clerk in EAU, West Cumberland Hospital. On successful completion of this programme you will be interviewed to join our Bank register as a Casual Admin Officer.

Main duties of the job

Supporting the Ward Clerk with general administration, which may include:

  • Answering telephone enquiries (internal and external) and taking messages
  • Welcoming visitors and helping with general enquiries
  • Photocopying and scanning
  • Liaising with departments/staff/other organisations
  • Helping staff and visitors access appropriate resources within the department
  • Going to collect items from other departments when required.
  • Other administrative tasks relevant to the individual department following instruction/training.
