Job summary

Urology Nurse Specialist Band 7, 26 hours per week permanent

This post is to compliment the existing nurse specialists in Urology. It will involve largely dealing with patients with urological cancer and providing support and information to patients and their families across North Cumbria will involve cross site commitments in Carlisle and Whitehaven. The intention is also to have a component of the job that will involve benign disease, in addition as a band 7 nurse the successful candidate will be provided with support and time to manage the growing urology nursing team

Main duties of the job

o Ensure a high standard of care for all patients with a diagnosis of urological cancer, providing a high standard of support for the patient and their family / carers, both emotionally and practically, before, during and after treatment.o Put quality at the heart of practice, delivering evidence based, individualised and personalised care through holistic needs assessment, planning and evaluation of care and all care interventions.o Demonstrate high level clinical, technical and research skills, actively integrating theory and practice.o Act as key worker for a clinical caseload, working to coordinate care and provide easy access for ongoing support for patients..o Provide clinical expertise, specialist advice and support across service boundaries.o Develop pathways of care for patients throughout the patient journey, ensuring full involvement of patients, their relatives and carers throughout.Provide line management leadership to the urology nursing workforce
