Disclosure and Barring Service:

On 28 November 2020, the new Disclosure and Barring Service filtering rules will come into effect.

The changes mean that:

• youth cautions, reprimands and final warnings will no longer be subject to automatic disclosure
• the multiple conviction rule has been removed, meaning that if an individual has more than one conviction, regardless of offence type or time passed, each conviction will be considered against the remaining rules individually, rather than being automatically disclosed.

Person Specification

Knowledge

Essential

• Underpinning theoretical knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology.
• Knowledge of the multi-disciplinary team roles

Desirable

• Disability awareness
• Basic awareness of prosthetics, orthotics and wheelchair services.

Experience

Essential

• Working with people where enabling and motivating skills are evident.
• Working within a team

Desirable

• Supervisory experience
• Health care work
• Working with people with physical needs

Qualifications

Essential

• Level 3 qualifications - A-levels or health & science T-level and functional skills level 2 Or level 2 apprenticeship in appropriate field

Desirable

• Care certificate
• NVQ 3 in health related subject

Skills and Aptitudes

Essential

• Good communication skills, particularly verbal
• Able to prioritise and work under pressure
• Happy to work in acute hospital environment
• Able to work under own initiative when required
• Knows own limitations
• Able to motivate patients
• Enjoys working as part of a MDT

• Able to work flexibly according to the needs of the service
