Job summary

An exciting opportunity to join the Tier 3 Weight Management Service within NCIC as an Assistant Practitioner. This is a 30 hour permanent post.

The Tier 3 Weight Management Assistant Practitioner will work within a multidisciplinary team consisting of specialists in endocrinology, psychology, dietetics and physiotherapy, providing treatment and management for patients with severe and complex obesity in North Cumbria.

The successful applicant will work to provide safe, quality care to all service users, under the supervision of a registered Physiotherapist. The post holder will continue to develop whilst undertaking a range of delegated tasks with appropriately delegated authority.

The Assistant Practitioner will be proficient at and provide a high standard of general and specific care for patients within the Tier 3 Weight Management Service. The Assistant Practitioner will have undergone academic training and been assessed as competent in all of the clinically delegated tasks.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the implementation of individual management plans for patients aiming to achieve a healthier weight and improve their health and well-being. They will be expected to assist a registered clinician with group exercise and also education sessions with a dietetic and psychology focus. The post holder may also support the consultant clinics in an acute setting utilising skills in phlebotomy and physiological observations, as well as assist in the completion of basic objective assessment. They will need to work flexibly between community venues and the acute hospitals in North Cumbria to meet the needs of the service and patient group.
