Disclosure and Barring Service:

On 28 November 2020, the new Disclosure and Barring Service filtering rules will come into effect.

The changes mean that:

• youth cautions, reprimands and final warnings will no longer be subject to automatic disclosure
• the multiple conviction rule has been removed, meaning that if an individual has more than one conviction, regardless of offence type or time passed, each conviction will be considered against the remaining rules individually, rather than being automatically disclosed.

Standard DBS check £21.50, Enhanced DBS check £49.50 + any admin costs.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

• oCurrent Registered Nurse
• oBSc (Hons) Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) in either School Nursing or Health Visiting - dependant on role advertised

Desirable

• oDual qualification in School Nursing & Health Visiting
• oTeaching and Assessing in Clinical Practice or equivalent
• oQualification in Sexual health, Mental Health

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

• oExperience working as a Health Visitor/ School Nurse (SCPHN)
• oExperience and understanding of working within safeguarding procedures and guidelines
• oUnderstanding of the determinants of health and health inequalities.
• oKnowledge of relevant legislation and guidance such as The Childrens Act (2004), Working Together to Safeguard Children (2023) and Statutory guidance Promoting the health and wellbeing of looked after children (2015) and other relevant documents

Desirable

• oExperience in, leading and supporting staff
• oExperience of multi-agency, including Third Sector working

Skills and Aptitudes

Essential

• oExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
• oExcellent time management skills
• oDemonstrate the ability to plan confidently, prioritise and action appropriately.

Desirable

• oEffective leadership and decision making skills
• oInformation management and IT skills appropriate for the role.

Other Requirements

Essential

• oAbility to travel throughout Cumbria and elsewhere to represent the Directorate independently of public transport
