Job summary
Opportunity has arisen in Pharmacy at North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust for a Pharmacy Procurement Lead Technician. This is a permanent post of 30 hours a week, based at the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle. Hybrid/flexible working can be considered after appointment, and hours and work pattern are negotiable. 7-day working may be required in future.
As a registered Pharmacy Technician, you will use your skills to ensure the Trust purchases safe, cost-effective, contracted medicines, in accordance with best practice, providing valuable information to the rest of the Pharmacy team about medicines availability and procurement. Our highly experienced Pharmacy Procurement Lead Technician at West Cumberland Hospital will provide initial training on that site away from your base (paid travel).
You must have excellent organisational skills and a desire to provide a high quality, safe, effective and efficient service for patients. You must be able to work under pressure, prioritise work and be able to work alone and as part of the team. You will provide line management for Procurement Team members at Cumberland Infirmary. You will work with a network of helpful procurement colleagues in the region who work together for the benefit of NHS patients in the Cumbria, the North East, Yorkshire and Humber. Main duties of the job
To assist in managing the planning of procurement of medicines across the Trust ensuring working practice complies with legal and quality standards as well as Trust policy, standing financial instructions and QCNW procedures.
To manage Procurement Team members on the Cumberland Infirmary Site and contribute to the wider Pharmacy Procurement Team and Department in the Trust across sites.
To advise pharmacy staff on procurement and receipt of medicines and communicate supply issues.
To manage maintenance of contracts and medication ordering profiles on the Pharmacy system.
To liaise with Regional Procurement colleagues to work for the maintenance of pharmacy stocks for the good of patients in the region.
Promote good customer relations with both staff and suppliers, to ensure timely supply of medicines across the Trust.
