Disclosure and Barring Service:

On 28 November 2020, the new Disclosure and Barring Service filtering rules will come into effect.

The changes mean that:

• youth cautions, reprimands and final warnings will no longer be subject to automatic disclosure

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

• Care Certificate or the willingness and ability to undertake (applicable for all non-registered support workers that provide health care)
• Evidence of professional self-development and a willing ness to undertake NVQ Level 3 training

Desirable

• NVQ Level 2, 3 or equivalent in care

Experience

Essential

• Able to demonstrate health, social care or rehabilitation experience in a care setting.

Desirable

• Previous experience of working in a team.
• Able to work with a wide range of people.

Knowledge

Essential

• Knowledge of community services that support and maintain independence.
• Knowledge of personal care tasks and activities of daily living
• An understanding of how to support, with empathy and encouragement, individuals who may be unwell or have reduced functional capabilities.
• Self- awareness and appreciation of own limitations

Skills

Essential

• Competency to provide clinical observations and basic diagnostics
• Ability to apply practical skills to maintain patient independence
• Able to use initiative, maintain confidentiality, exercise individual responsibility and judgement.
