Whatis the Volunteer to Career (VtC) programme?
North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust have partnered up with Inspira, who are leading employability experts providing free professional careers and advice and guidance across Cumbria to deliver the Volunteer to Career Programme.
The programme is funded from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and this therefore only open to applicants who reside in the Cumberland Council boundary.
Who is eligible to apply for the VtC programme?The VtC programme is open to anyone who is interested in a career within Health and Social Care.
Volunteers should be able to commit for at least 60 hours for a minimum of 7 months, be over 18 years old, have the right to work in the UK and be ready to go through recruitment checks and training requirements. On successful completion of the programme you will be interviewed to join our Bank Register as a Casual Catering Assistant.What is the purpose of the role?
The role of catering support volunteers will be to help create a friendly, welcoming and helpful environment at our food outlets across North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust.
All catering volunteers if they have not already completed the course, will be required to do the level 1 food hygiene course which gives basic food safety knowledge.
Location: Keswick Community Hospital
Main duties of the job
- Assisting stocking up the counters with cold snacks, pops, crisps, crocks and cutlery
- Wiping dining tables, straightening the chairs, removing debris and trays to tray clearing trolleys, generally assisting with keeping the dining area clean and tidy
- Alerting catering staff of any spillages
- Assisting customers taking their meals to the tables particularly those with mobility issues
