Job summary
The cancer audit coordinator is responsible for overseeing and enhancing the completeness, quality, accuracy, and integrity of cancer-related data within NCIC.This role plays a critical part in improving patient cancer care and ensuring compliance with data-related regulations.
The coordinator will work closely with the clinical team and wider hospital colleagues to ensure proper and accurate data is captured and recorded in the cancer management system, and proactively monitor data. The post holder will communicate a list of data quality issues to the cancer tracking manager and work collaboratively with the IT team to implement enhancements to the cancer information system for collecting high-quality data,and work with analytics and reporting teams to identify gaps and address them.
The cancer audit coordinator is responsible for recording and reporting a wide range of cancer data as required ensuring the Trust meets the cancer agenda including information collection for national clinical audits.
Main duties of the job
Post holder will work on their own with minimum direct supervision making their own judgement and using own initiative to plan and organise their own workload.
To provide information required for national clinical audit databases for specific tumour sites, including:
- National Lung Cancer Audit (NLCA)
- National Bowel Cancer Audit (NBCA)
- - National Audit of Breast Cancer in Older Patients (NABCOP)
- - National-Oesophago-Gastric Cancer Audit (NOGCA)- National Prostate Cancer Audit (NPCA)
To ensure full collection of TNM staging for all recorded cancers in line with the Cancer Outcomes Data Set (COSD)
Regularly audit data for inconsistencies, errors, and missing information, and take corrective actions as needed.
Develop and implement data quality control procedures and standards to ensure the reliability of cancer data
