INTERNAL ONLY TO NORTH CUMBRIA INTEGRATED CARE NHS FOUNDATION TRUST (NCIC) EMPLOYEES ONLY

The Medical Engineering department provides a wide range of technical, scientific, procurement and management services to NCIC, serving most specialties and departments across Cumbria. The core services are based at the two Acute Hospitals, the Cumberland Infirmary & West Cumberland Hospitals with some specialist satellite Facilities around Cumbria.

The Post is responsible for the Management of an in house team (Approximately 12 staff) of Technicians based at the Cumberland Infirmary and West Cumberland Hospital.

The Post holder will provide expert advice to assist Business Units in Procuring specialist equipment, maintenance contracts and where applicable, manage specialist contracts.

The department carries out acceptance testing, commissioning, repair, calibration and planned preventative maintenance services on a wide range of Medical electronic equipment for use in patient care.

Main duties of the job

As a professional manager and leader, accountable for the direct delivery of a clinical technical service, the post holder will provide a modern and efficient Medical Engineering function to the Trust, complying with statutory regulations, Trust Policies, Care Quality Commission, Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) - Managing Medical Devices, National Patient Safety Agency (NPSA) and MDA bulletins and current best practice.

The post holder will manage the delivery of Medical Engineering services to ensure the safe and efficient acquisition, deployment, use and disposal of medical equipment.

  • Honours degree in Engineering or equivalent level of knowledge and experience and Biomedical Engineering Training in General areas and Specialist areas including Radiology, Renal, CT/MRI
  • Degree to Masters level
  • Post Graduate in Management Qualification
