Job summary

An exciting development opportunity has arisen to join the team on Elm a /HASU. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team in the role of Clinical Educator.

The stroke department is a caring and friendly environment providing specialist stroke care to patients in the acute and rehabilitation phase following a stroke as well as providing neuro-rehabilitation care to patients following a head injury

The department compromises a 10 bedded hyper acute stroke unit, providing highly acute specialised stroke care with 33 acute stroke and rehabilitation beds.

Our aim is to provide holistic care for stroke and neuro-rehabilitation patients, utilising a co-ordinated multidisciplinary approach, resulting in optimal patient outcomes. We work with a mixture of specialist nursing teams, medics and therapists to provide an individualised and supportive environment for patients in which to deliver this specialised care for patients following a stroke.

Main duties of the job

The clinical nurse educator in collaboration with the Ward Manager will effectively organise facilitate and deliver an education and training programme to the Stroke team. They will provide "hands on" assessment ,supervision and development of the multi-professional team, patients and carers in clinical practice to promote the acquisition of new skills and knowledge

The Clinical Nurse Educator will assist with staff and workforce development and contribute to developing and progressing staff, recruitment and retention and internal teaching programmes including apprenticeships and preceptorship. The post holder will contribute to achieving the objectives of the departments Key Performance Indicators while working within the clinical governance framework.

The clinical educator will have a responsibility for practice development within the department in partnership with other members of the team and will work collaboratively to develop services and improve the quality of care delivered. This will include delivery of a comprehensive orientation and induction programme into ward for qualified nursing staff and Health Care assistants working collaboratively to develop and deliver an ongoing programme of training and education for the stroke service .
