Disclosure and Barring Service:

On 28 November 2020, the new Disclosure and Barring Service filtering rules will come into effect.

The changes mean that:

• youth cautions, reprimands and final warnings will no longer be subject to automatic disclosure
• the multiple conviction rule has been removed, meaning that if an individual has more than one conviction, regardless of offence type or time passed, each conviction will be considered against the remaining rules individually, rather than being automatically disclosed.

Person Specification

Education and Qualifications

Essential

• Valid Full Registration with the General Medical Council,
• Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons or equivalent
• Relevant CCT or equivalent (equivalence must be confirmed by PMETB/GMC by date of AAC)
• On the Specialist Register for the above or within 6 months of being admitted to the Register by the AAC date

Desirable

• Other relevant medical and non-medical training/degree
• Other relevant postgraduate qualification
• MD or PhD degree

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

• Knowledge of Audit process & Clinical Governance
• A special interest to complement that of the existing post-holders
• Ability to offer expert opinion on clinical specialist problems in Vascular Surgery
• Demonstrate sound wide-based knowledge and offer opinion on Vascular surgicaDemonstrate sound wide-based knowledge and offer opinion on Vascular surgicaDemonstrate sound wide-based knowledge and offer opinion on Vascular surgical conditions
• Ability to take full and independent responsibility for vascular surgical patients.
• High level of clinical experience and competence in the management of the breadth of common vascular surgical conditions
• Demonstrate adequate surgical experience of index vascular surgical procedures and operations.
• Demonstrate adequate surgical experience in renal access surgery and endovascular techniques.

Desirable

• Proven track record in undertaking research projects.
• Training and experience in endovascular procedures.
• Confident to undertake endovascular procedures independently.
• Logbook demonstrating independent endovascular experience and practice.

Experience

Essential

• High level of clinical experience and competence in vascular surgery

Desirable

• Experience in endovascular therapies
• Experience in district general hospital practice.
