An exciting new opportunity has arisen for existing staff to join our friendly multi-disciplinary team in breast imaging as an Apprentice Associate Practitioner in Mammography. The post will be based at the Breast Screening Unit at The Cumberland Infirmary Carlisle however there will be an expectation to work at the breast unit at West Cumberland Infirmary as service needs demand.

Full training will be provided via the National Breast Imaging Academy and clinical training undertaken in house in the breast unit. The successful candidate will be fully supported throughout training.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, adaptable, well-motivated Female* Apprentice Associate Practitioner in Mammography to train and become part of our team. The post holder will be expected to train in mammography, successfully complete the mammography associate apprenticeship (Level 4) and participate in the Quality Assurance Programme.

Applicants must possess English and Maths qualifications at GCSE grades A-C or 9-4, or Functional skills level 2 English and maths or equivalent AND have certificates to evidence this.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing breast imaging for the diagnosis of breast cancer in both screening clients and symptomatic patients.

Post holder will be expected to work towards a qualification recognised by the College of Radiographers as an Associate Practitioner in Mammography as part of their apprenticeship.

Assist in the routine quality assurance of equipment ensuring any outcomes are reported and documented.

Support clients/patients through procedures assessing and responding to individual needs.

Ensure smooth running of clinics communicating any issues to senior staff lead

Assist in the timely efficient and effective management of the breast imaging unit.
