Apprentice Physiotherapist - AFC Band 5 Annex 21
We have a rare and exciting opportunity for motivated individuals who want to become a Physiotherapist. The successful applicant will be enthusiastic about the profession and will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the role of a physiotherapist. Applicants should be interested in helping individuals overcome difficulties affected by injury, illness or disability through movement and exercise, education and advice - working across varied specialties with people of all ages
You will be employed in a three-year degree apprenticeship role within the North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust (NCIC). Academic study will make up 20% at University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN) and 20% on placements. The remaining 60% will be spent in the workplace. During the apprenticeship, the post holder will perform all of the elements in this band 5 job description as a learner and under the direct and/or indirect supervision of a registered practitioner.
We will provide a work placed mentor to provide guidance, support and knowledge in the Physiotherapy profession.
The services in some areas provide 7 day cover and the successful applicant must therefore be prepared to work weekends and extended days. Work bases will vary and applicants will be expected to work and travel to various acute & community sites within NCIC including attending patients' own homes, so access to a car is essential.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will contribute to the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care as part of the multidisciplinary team. The post holder will have the knowledge to interpret information and be skilled in taking appropriate action(s) to achieve the planned outcome. The post holder will contribute to the maintenance of a safe clinical environment and is expected to work within a wide variety of clinical environments. The post holder will be expected to practice in accordance with NCIC policies, guidelines, standards and statutory requirements and operate within defined competency boundaries.
It is required that post holders will commit to undertake the formal education of the course and successfully complete all components of the training programme within the contract period.
