Band 4 Radiology Assistant Lead , 37.5 hours available, full or part time, permanent

The role of the radiology Assistant Lead is to support the work of Radiologists, Radiographers and Sonographers, providing services 24/7 over 365 days per annum. Applicants must be flexible, able to demonstrate excellent organisational and prioritising skills, use your own initiative and be confident to discuss new ways of working to improve efficiency of the service.

The successful applicants must be prepared to work flexible hours according to the service needs (shift rota) including evenings, weekends, bank holidays and rotate to community sites.

To manage and monitor the performance of the Cumberland Infirmary site Radiology Assistant team to support this team by setting clear objectives and facilitating their learning needs as well as ensuring they provide a high standard of communication with patients. Perform a supporting role under direct supervision of qualified staff, working in clinical and office areas, assisting the Radiographers and Consultant Radiologists (including speciality doctors) within the busy Radiology department with patient, equipment and environment care, patient transfer, with some reception, telephone and medical records handling, use of computers and data input duties. Liaise with NHS professionals, support staff and the general public to ensure an efficient service.

Main duties of the job

Manage Radiology Assistants at the Cumberland Infirmary site under the leadership of the Radiology Trust Lead Radiographer

Undertake appraisals of the Radiology Assistants

Apply the Attendance Management Policy

Follow corporate and Radiology policies in all areas of work. These policies include information governance, data quality, and Trust corporate policies.

Monitor the performance of the team and ensure that patients and others receive an excellent level of service and staff are completing tasks efficiently and effectively.

Responsible for the training of new staff and updating existing staff.

Identify own training needs and those of others to extend knowledge and improve skill base. Proactively meet own training needs and support others in attaining theirs through coaching, advice giving and the demonstration of working practices.

Make rotas available to staff in a timely manner according to agenda for change. Manage the day to day movement of staff to ensure all essential services are covered.
