Job summary

Apprentice Dietitian

Full time - 37.5 hours

Fixed Term (Annexe 21 of Band 5, salary will increase in line with this)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Apprentice Dietitian to work within the dietetic team at the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle and undertake a 3 year Dietetic Apprenticeship with Teesside University. This is a fixed term post combining vocational work-based learning with study for a university degree.

Main duties of the job

The work based learning will involve assisting the dietetic team in the delivery of the nutrition and dietetic service at the Cumberland Infirmary and support the development of the service provided to North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust. The role will be based with the acute team but may work across the department.

The apprentice will spend one day per week attending Teesside University for academic study virtually and onsite at the university. The apprentice will also undertake 1000 hours of clinical practice placements in a variety of settings

The department provides regular 1:1 and group practice/clinical supervision. Professional development is given a high priority and there are ongoing educational opportunities. The department trains student dietitians Chester University, Newcastle University and University of Central Lancashire .
