Disclosure and Barring Service:

On 28 November 2020, the new Disclosure and Barring Service filtering rules will come into effect.

The changes mean that:

• youth cautions, reprimands and final warnings will no longer be subject to automatic disclosure
• the multiple conviction rule has been removed, meaning that if an individual has more than one conviction, regardless of offence type or time passed, each conviction will be considered against the remaining rules individually, rather than being automatically disclosed.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

• GCSE English and Maths or Equivalent
• Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent experience
• Association for Respiratory Technology and Physiology Introductory Level CPAP Certificate or willingness to complete whilst in post within first 12 months of employment.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

• Experience of face to face and telephone contact within the health care setting
• Experience of providing solutions in a caring and compassionate manner
• Awareness and understanding of patient confidentiality
• Previous participation in the management of Sleep Apnoea patients, including diagnostic and treatment pathways

Desirable

• Experience of working within a Healthcare setting
• Experience working within a sleep speciality
• Working autonomously
• Managing own caseload

Skills and Aptitudes

Essential

• Good IT Skills
• Ability to demonstrate effective communication with all services users and the multi-disciplinary team.
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
• Ability to use initiative appropriately
• Ability to recognise own limitations

Desirable

• Understanding of Trust I.T networks and programs and relevant external agency software
• Extended scope of practice pertinent to role
