Job summary

We are looking for new Pharmacy Support Volunteers to join our team!

Pharmacy offer a medicines management service which involves ensuring patients have the right medicines available either through use of their own medicines or by dispensing them from the pharmacy.Many patients visiting the Trust will come to pick up medicine from the pharmacy on the ground floor. As a volunteer, you'll be a welcoming face for this service, spend time talking to patients and helping with their queries. Your help will also free up the staff team to work more efficiently during peak times and help to reduce waiting times for prescriptions. All of this will provide our patients with a better experience

Must be 18y or older to apply

Shifts usually run from 13:30-16:30 so volunteering during this time would be beneficial.

Main duties of the job

  • Delivery of medication to patients/wards - medications are delivered in sealed containers/bags
  • Meeting and greeting patients who come to the pharmacy during the busy times
  • Supporting the staff team in collecting prescription information from patients
  • Display a helpful and friendly approach to patients, visitors, staff and colleagues
  • Providing a friendly face and a listening ear
  • Running errands to other parts of the hospital
  • Work with sensitivity and an understanding of the issues facing those working to deliver health care within the Trust
  • All tasks will be carried out under the supervision of the dispensary staff
