We are looking for a highly motivated clinician to join our multidisciplinary Sexual Health team who are dedicated and passionate to providing excellent quality sexual health care to the Communities in Cumbria. We have a full time or part time permanent consultant post available
Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Sexual Health & HIV in the integrated Sexual Health Service. The post is located in the stunningly beautiful Cumbria. The anticipated base is Carlisle but this will be subject to negotiation with the successful candidate.

Main duties of the job
To provide clinical leadership and act as a source of advice both within and out with the Trust.
- Be a key person for advice, support and guidance to the team in the provision of sexual health services.
- Delivery comprehensive care and follow-up of patients accessing the service.
- Ensure delivery of national and local strategies.
- To provide management for patients with recurrent complex GUM infections. .
- Provide counselling on and provision of all contraceptive methods to clinic users.
- To diagnose STIs.
- Outpatient care of HIV patients.
- To ensure client confidentiality is maintained.
- To be aware of and adhere to the Child Protection guidelines and procedures of the Trust and the Area Child Protection Team.
- To oversee and support the excellent model of Young People's service within the county.
- To work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- To provide specialist advice as required on sexual health matters to other health professionals.
Managerial
Overall responsibilities include participating in co-ordination and delivery of the strategic and operational aspects of sexual health services across Cumbria. This will reflect national and local priorities, including contributing to the strategic direction of North Cumbria Integrated Care Foundation Trust.
About us
The Integrated Sexual Health Service (ISHS) is the principal provider of integrated Sexual Health services across Cumbria. We collaborate with Primary Care and third sector/charitable organisations to deliver seamless services, joined up access and treatment pathways; delivering services across a large geography via well-established out-reach clinics in dedicated and bespoke clinics in a variety of community venues.
Clinics offer the full range of level 3 GUM and SRH care including complex needs such as caring for people post sexual assault.
HIV is managed differently between the North and the South. In the North, Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals Infectious Diseases team care for all people with HIV. In the South, HIV is cared for by our GUM consultants in Collaboration with Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre Trust. The new consultant will be expected to provide HIV care under an Honorary contract with Blackpool Teaching Hospitals.
The service provides system-wide clinical advice support and governance. The teams deliver training to a variety of partners and stakeholders including coil and implant training to GP practices. The consultants also provide assessment of GP competencies for those wishing to achieve specialist accreditation.
Advice and assistance is given in the development of ongoing training programmes for sexual health specialist courses, mentorship and assessment of clinical practice is provided. GPs are welcomed into the service to learn from the clinicians.
