Job summary
The role of the Unit is to undertake and deliver local anaesthetic procedures in a dedicated Oral Surgery environment with the aim of returning the patient home on the same day. The Unit encompasses of dedicated reception area, pre-operative, peri-operative and post-operative care.
To compile theatre lists for Clinicians within the Oral Surgery department for minor oral surgery procedures.
Aid in typing of the sutures clinics following such procedures.
Main duties of the job
- Ensure appropriate scheduling of procedures in accordance with waiting list co-ordinator.
- Exchange information with patients and staff on the admission procedures, both written and verbal.
- Implement waiting list procedures as instructed by waiting list co-ordinators.
- Update patient information on PAS in an accurate and timely manner.
- Deal with patient enquiries and complaints or referring on where necessary.
- Write to patients requesting they contact you to make arrangements for their forthcoming procedures, within the agreed timescale of the Trusts Policy.
- Answer telephone calls relating to the above and making a mutual convenient date and time for their pre-assessment. Record the information onto the GroupWise calendar and onto the PAS System, sending a letter of confirmation and relevant information to the patient.
- Book the patient onto the PAS system and producing booking letter.
- Keep Consultants Diaries up to date.
- Type Theatre Lists and distribute them to the relevant parties concerned by e-mail.
