Job summary
The Podiatry Department provides a comprehensive service to patients throughout North Cumbria. As a band 5 podiatrist you will be given the opportunity to enhance your clinical skills and knowledge to improve patient care, through a robust preceptorship/induction programme. You will work alongside a friendly, welcoming and supportive team, dedicated to learning and improving, where everyone's voice counts.
This role would suit an enthusiastic and highly motivated new graduate or individual looking to return to practice to join our inspirational podiatry team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will have outstanding organisational and planning abilities in order to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks, be able to demonstrate high level interpersonal skills alongside a good sense of humour and high levels of resilience, being a team player with good IT skills. The podiatry Department delivers care to the population of North Cumbria. The Department has a good skill mix including advanced and specialist Podiatrists, Podiatry assistants and administrative staff. Currently we maintain high risk, biomechanics and nail surgery caseloads. While providing episodes of care for specific conditions. Opportunities to develop skills and knowledge in specialist areas are available by our close links with the Multi-disciplinary diabetic foot team and North Cumbria MSK service.
Main duties of the job
- Work with individuals, families, carers, communities, Primary Healthcare Teams and other agencies to undertake a comprehensive assessment of patients / service users in order to inform a personalised plan of care / intervention.
- Formulate and deliver an individual treatment programme using holistic assessment, reasoning and treatment skills based on sound knowledge of evidence based practice and a range of treatment options.
- Evaluate patient progress, reassess and alter treatment programmes using an accepted/ appropriate range of techniques as required and utilising regular support and advice from specialist or advanced clinicians.
- To demonstrate the promotion of healthy lifestyle practices to the general public by the utilisation of teaching skills.
- Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately
- To be responsible for the escalation of patients presenting with complex conditions outside the scope of practice.
- To be professional and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your own work including the management of patients / service users in your care.
- To undertake self-directed / lone working in a variety of locations.
- To be responsible for a designated area of work, as directed by a senior clinician.
- To identify when patients require the intervention of other professionals and/or specialists and to refer by following recognised procedures.
