Paediatric Senior Staff Nurse, Band 6, Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, up to 37.5 hours per week.

An exciting opportunity has become available to be part of a growing, vibrant Paediatric Team within the Cumberland Infirmary. We are looking to appoint a passionate, enthusiastic, motivated Band 6 registered children's nurse, with active RSCN registration, who wishes to build upon their leadership skills and excel in their career. The post holder will have experience in an acute paediatric or A&E setting. Ideally you will have completed PILS/EPALS and will be able to provide evidence of professional development, shift management, and staff development.
We have recently just opened a new paediatric department within our main A&E building. We have a triage room, 3 treatment rooms including a HDU and a safe room to see and assess patients safely. This is a new and exciting opportunity for a children's nurse looking to expand their emergency care knowledge and to be part of a brand new paediatric area. There will be further opportunity for career progression and to work within a well-supported team.
Main duties of the job
You will assess, plan, deliver and evaluate nursing care, providing the prescribed nursing care without supervision. You will also contribute to the development and evaluation of nursing practice within the department and ward area, as well as providing nursing care in accordance with local policies, procedures and guidelines and comply with NMC code of professional conduct.
The role will include:
Being responsible and accountable in the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of nursing care within their remit
Providing excellent clinical leadership skills to ensure the effective delivery of patient care and resources within the remit of the unit
To provide evidence based, quality emergency care to the public
Participate in the role of mentor, teacher and supervisor to pre-registration students and health care assistants
Participate in the monitoring of standards of care, essence of care, care pathway audits, reviewing of A&E documentation
The role of the senior staff nurse in the department includes supporting junior staff and taking on enhanced roles to support the senior nursing team.
Involving audits, roster management and where possible taking on the role of the coordinator in the absence of the sister
