Job summary
The Tavistock Trauma Service is an innovative, multi-modal specialist service offering group and individual therapy as a part of a phase based approach to complex trauma. We have a specialist arm for non-recent (historical) child sexual abuse as well as working with other forms of developmental and adult traumas.
The post holder will lead the service in relation to trauma yoga work. There is currently a slow open trauma yoga group located within the trauma service which holds patients for one year within this adjunct treatment whilst the patients also receive talking therapy (group or individual).
The post holder must be qualified as a trauma yoga therapist and as an accredited psychodynamically orientated psychotherapist or psychologist (BPC, UKCP, HCPC or equivalent). Further training in mindfulness and compassion based approaches would be highly desirable. The post holder should have experience of working as a therapist, to include working with high risk and complex clients who have experienced trauma.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will lead this group with another member of the trauma service and jointly they will also manage:
- Liaison and communication between the group therapists and other involved therapists within the team (group or individual)
- Preliminary meetings for new group members
- Administration as required for the group.
- Attendance at unit meetings, workshops and staff meetings as required to ensure appropriate linking up of patient care
The postholder will also be available to see a limited number of patients individually for trauma yoga work - either those unable to attend a group or who may need preparation individually before beginning the group.
The post holder will develop capacity to have trainees in trauma yoga who can be supervised to potentially run further groups or do individual work depending on the needs of the service.
The post holder will participate in audit and research requirements of the service.
