Job summary

City and Hackney Primary Care Psychotherapy Consultation Service (PCPCS) The City and Hackney Primary Care Psychotherapy Consultation Service (PCPCS) is an established yet innovative primary care service providing psychological therapies to patients whose presentations fall in the gaps between primary and secondary care. Clinicians in PCPCS work in an integrated way with colleagues in ELFT and non-statutory organisations as part of the evolving Mental Health Neighbourhoods that map onto 8 Primary Care Networks.

We are particularly keen to attract to the post applicants from a range of communities and from diverse backgrounds. PCPCS is designed to meet the needs of specific groups of patients who fall through gaps in existing service provision and may be difficult to manage in primary care because of the complexity of their conditions.

The post holder will work 5 sessions across the first half of the week (Monday- Wednesday), which must include Wednesday afternoons, when we hold team meetings take place on Wednesdays.

The post holder will work as senior clinician in the team providing complex clinical assessments, treatments and supervisions. Our clinicalwork takes place in GP surgery within the London borough of Hackney, although a proportion of the clinical work continues to be delivered remotely.

The post holder will hold a complex caseload within the multi-disciplinary team, undertaking a range of clinical assessments and offering highly skilled treatments or therapies that are outcome focused and evidence based, using appropriate therapeutic modalities. You will review cases where patients have impasses, complaints or disputes with their clinical care.

You will provide consultation to external agencies such as GPs/schools/Local authorities and expert consultation and specialist psychological advice to other staff and agencies outside the Trust.

The post holder will communicate complex information in a highly skilled and sensitive manner, at times dealing with service users who may be hostile or present challenging behaviours.

You will maintain a high standard of clinical records, producing and maintaining good communications with referrers and other professionals involved, liaising with the referrers where appropriate, including liaison with local services and participating in outreach meetings

The post holder will contribute to the quality, safety and continuous improvement of services provided to service users and their families.
