Job summary

This post is for a Highly Specialist Systemic and Family Psychotherapist to join the Whole Family Team (WFT). The WFT is a highly specialist CAMHS service working with the London Borough of Camden alongside children and young people's services and specialises in working with families facing complex difficulties, who may be working with several professionals and may struggle to access community services. In addition to offering direct intervention, the WFT offers a large amount of consultation and risk support (under the thrive model) to other professionals working with children, young people and their families.

The Whole Family Team is co-located across a range of Camden Local Authority Services, including, Social Services, Camden's Pupil Referral Units (Heath & Harmood School), The Youth Offending Service, Early Help and Camden Children Centre Services. The post holder will be required to work in a flexible and outreach way in order to best meet the needs of the families and young people referred to the team. The postholder will spend time located within one of the Local Authority provisions and provide WFT CAMHS input to this service.

Please note that we are also recruiting for a Band 8a (0.5 WTE) Systemic and Family Psychotherapist in the under 5s part of the service (The Whole Family Team with Perinatal Specialism). If you are interested in securing a full time post we would encourage you to apply for both positions.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will hold a complex caseload within the multi-disciplinary team, undertaking a range of clinical assessments and offering highly skilled treatments or therapies that are outcome focussed and evidence based, using appropriate therapeutic modalities. You will review cases where patients have impasses, complaints or disputes with their clinical care.

The post holder will communicate complex information in a highly skilled and sensitive manner, at times dealing with service users who may be hostile or present challenging behaviours.

You will maintain a high standard of clinical records, producing and maintaining good communications with referrers and other professionals involved, liaising with the referrers where appropriate, including liaison with local services and participating in outreach meetings The post holder will contribute to the quality, safety and continuous improvement of services provided to service users and their families.

  • Degree level as a minimum plus developed specialist and practical knowledge equating to Doctoral/ Masters level
  • Registration with HCPC or relevant body as a Systemic and Family Psychotherapist.

Experience

  • Evidence of clinical experience of working with client population. A clear track record of managing complexity and risk whilst maintaining high standards of service delivery
  • A comprehensive understanding of the changing NHS and Social Care environment and the challenges they face
  • Experience of working at all levels of the system with internal and external stakeholders
  • Expertise of managing and treating the client group Some experience of clinical supervision
