Job summary

The Tavistock Trauma Service is an innovative, multi-modal specialist service offering group and individual therapy as a part of a phase-based approach to complex trauma. All clinical work is held within a psychoanalytic frame but the service makes use of different trauma modalities as part of a trauma - informed approach. Trauma consultations may lead to individual intermittent or weekly work, or a variety of group options including psychoeducation groups, trauma art therapy, trauma focused mentalization group, trauma yoga groups and a women's group for non-recent (historical) child sexual abuse.

The service has a strong program for honorary therapists to work in the service. The service also offers consultation and training to external organizations working with traumatized populations, including reflective practice groups. We have a specialist arm for non-recent (historical) child sexual abuse as well as working with other forms of developmental and adult traumas.

We are looking for an experienced BPC accredited psychodynamic or psychoanalytic psychotherapist who is also qualified as a clinical/ counselling psychologist to take up a highly specialist trauma psychotherapist role across both arms of the service.

Experience of working with adults who have experienced complex trauma in an NHS setting, providing supervision and using different modalities is desirable as the role will allow for creativity and contributing to the development of the service.

This role will involve offering consultation and psychotherapy to patients who have experienced complex trauma, both group and individual and providing supervision to trainees and staff. The post-holder will also lead on service development projects, including in the stabilisation phase, outcome measure collection and with service user involvement in the service.
