The post holder will be based in and work in various GP surgeries across the London borough of Hackney and remotely. The team base is at St Leonard's Hospital, Nuttall Street, N1 5LZ

The City and Hackney Primary Care Psychotherapy Consultation Service (PCPCS) is an established yet innovative primary care service providing psychological therapies to patients whose presentations fall in the gaps between primary and secondary care.

Main duties of the job

As a clinician in PCPCS, you will be providing a blend of face to face and remote clinical work, namely assessments, time limited evidence based treatments, consultations to GP's, and where appropriate, supervision to trainees and other staff members working within the service. In addition to individual work, it would be desirable to be able to offer group psychotherapy and/or family interventions. You will contribute to the packages of care offered by the team, including reliably providing outcome monitoring data .

You will play a key role in nurturing close liaison with specific groups of GPs and other primary care staff, mental health professionals within the evolving Neighborhood teams and other statutory and voluntary sector agencies.

Essential

  • Post-graduate doctoral level training in Clinical or Counselling psychology as accredited by the British Psychological Society or relevant qualification in nursing or social work or BPC recognised training in psychodynamic psychotherapy

Experience

Essential

  • Significant clinical experience of working within the NHS or an equivalent setting
  • Experience of working within a multidisciplinary setting. Experience of working in either primary or secondary mental health care settings. Experience of specialist psychological assessment/psychotherapeutic assessment and treatment of individuals with a wide range of mental health problems, of varying severity and complexities.

Desirable

  • Specific experience of working with patients with complex mental health problems, including medically unexplained symptoms and personality disorder.
