Job summary
This is an opportunity for a qualified and experienced Systemic Psychotherapist to use their considerable experience in working clinically with children, adolescents, parents and carers and with families with a significant consultation level role to wider systems around the child.
The post holder will need to attend weekly meetings on Wednesdays (currently 8.45am - 10.00am) The post holder would be expected to work on Wednesdays as a core day, with some flexibility in relation to the remaining day and a half of work. There would likely be an opportunity in the near future, to work in a community setting at Bounds Green Health Centre on Thursdays.
Main duties of the job
As a senior member of the Fostering Adoption and Kinship Care Team, the post holder's work will include providing specialist clinical assessment and psychotherapeutic treatment for looked after children and adolescents, adoptive families and the children in the care of their extended families or friends, either through special guardianship or kinship arrangements. The work will include brief and longer term treatments; clinical supervision on complex cases; and clinical management responsibilities, teaching, and consultation to practitioners both within and outside the Trust, the dissemination of specialist knowledge through teaching, training and consultation to appropriate professional networks. The post holder will be expected to work with patients with highly complex, challenging and disturbing emotional states and behaviour. The work of the team includes the running of both children and parents groups specifically for our cohort of young people and families, and it is envisaged that the post holder will have experience of, or a keen interest in group work, so as to contribute to this area. In addition, the post holder will be expected to support the running and development of the recently established Adoption Support Fund pathway.
About us
The FAK Team is a lively and busy multidisciplinary team and includes: Child Psychiatry, Clinical Psychology, Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy, Social Work, and Family Therapy. The team also supports trainees from all of these disciplines. Treatment modalities include Psychoanalytic and Psychodynamic therapy, Group Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, multi-modal Group Therapy, Systemic Psychotherapy, CBT, EMDR, Psychiatry and VIPP. The team is based in The Tavistock Clinic. Team meetings are on Wednesdays and attendance is an essential requirement of the post.
