This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new and evolving initiative which exists to support health and social care colleagues affected by experiences arising from the pandemic and recovery.

Key Objectives:

To Support and co-ordinate the work of Keeping Well NCL Mental Health and Wellbeing Hub. The aim of the hub is to advise, guide and support the NCL ICS in relation to mental health and wellbeing in the context of the pandemic and recovery.

To provide flexible, appropriate delivery of Hub support, guidance and advice for health and social care settings across the ICS, working collaboratively under the leadership of the Hub, showing active and supportive followership as well as initiative and challenge where needed.

Main duties of the job

The Role:

This Band 7 role is open to psychological therapists with professional registration and a nursing, psychology, social work, OT or adult psychotherapy background and mental health experience. You will contribute to the delivery of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Hub across the NCL Integrated Care Service (ICS). The emphasis on this stage of the work is to further develop the ICS web-based resource 'Keeping Well NCL', to facilitate the provision of team and organisational support, and to support the access to assessment and treatment for those presenting with more complex symptoms in response to difficult experiences.

You will work within a core team developing the website including involvement in its interactive functions, actively creating outreach links and systems to connect up staff wellbeing activity across the ICS, providing team and organisational support to promote resilience, and gathering and analysing feedback and data in order to create resources. You will contribute to the development and delivery of a range of digital and face to face psychoeducational initiatives and training programs for NHS and social care staff across the sector.

About us

Working in the Hub Team as part of the ICS

  • Make active use of Hub line management and supervision and Hub team meetings, any development opportunities in consultation with Hub line manager.
  • Support the generation and development of links with different parts of the ICS with regards to their needs and preferences for Hub interventions, and in this way help to initiate service changes and developments.
  • Support the engagement of prospective clients by email, phone or teleconference, negotiating initial meetings.
  • Contribute to initial client meetings; establishing client needs and communicating the value of our offer and eliciting all necessary information to produce a written proposal.
  • Together with the Hub Lead, interpret policies regionally and nationally to understand the impact for service provision and lead on the implementation of relevant policy and strategy drivers linked to workforce wellbeing.

  • Undertake rapid clinical assessments in line with Hub guidance for onward referral to relevant pathways and clinical providers
  • Assess and effectively communicate issues of clinical risk where encountered in Hub activity, using clinical skills in an applied setting.
  • Apply clinical experience by conveying to clients through team and organisational consultation, training delivery and any individual consultation a knowledge of the impact of the pandemic on workplace life, practices, environments, procedures and other issues affecting mental health and wellbeing.
  • Conduct effective structured and unstructured one on one consultations and facilitate group sessions, i.e Reflective Practice, Keeping Well Groups, based on clinical understanding of need and co-design.
  • Utilise existing conceptual frameworks for understanding workplace related mental health and wellbeing issues and the impact of difficult
  • Apply an understanding of the issues affecting health and social care organisations ability to care for the mental health and wellbeing of their staff
  • Actively and sensitively work to surface, understand and seek to address the impact of inequalities relating to race, gender, age, disability, sexuality both in contact with ICS settings/clients and in your own work in role in the Hub team.
  • Elicit information from different sources that will help to design and deliver a Hub intervention, using a range of skills, including the applied use of clinical understanding as appropriate to organisational work.
  • Support the initial engagement of ICS contacts, negotiating initial meetings and working flexibly to extend the Hub network of activity.
  • Contribute to the mapping of existing Hub provision and assessment of its impact, effectiveness and cohesion.

  • Degree/Masters Degree or equivalent
  • Membership to professional body
  • Postqualifying experience as a clinical practitioner including clinical assessments
