We currently have a vacancy for a dynamic, motivated nurse to work in the busy Cardiology Research Department within the new Barts Heart Centre. We are the biggest cardiovascular centre in Europe and have a growing portfolio of interventional research for cardiac patients. The post is for a one year fixed term contract position in the first instance with possibility of extension.
The primary responsibility for this post holder is to take a support the delivery of clinical trials and research patient recruitment. The post holder will be based within the cardiology research department at the Barts Heart centre. You might be required to cover multiple sites within the trust.
You will be an RN with post registration experience within cardiology or a clinical Research practitioner, preferably registered with Academy for Health Care Sciences. You must demonstrate strong organisational, interpersonal and communication skills, be computer literate, flexible and be able to manage your own time effectively. Excellent time management and IT skills are essential to the role.
Main duties of the job
The main role of the Junior Research Nurse is to support the research teams in the running of investigator initiated, NIHR and commercial clinical trials. The post-holder will work on recruitment of patients onto clinical trial running within intervention cardiology for as well as care and monitoring of patients during research treatment. The post holder will manage and coordinator follow-up of patients on their portfolio of studies.
Responsibilities also include creation and maintenance of files for clinical trials, collection of trial data and completion of case report forms. The post holder will provide information on clinical trials for the cardiac team as and when required and will be expected to develop skills and knowledge relating to theconduct of clinical trials, the therapies and disease site.
