Consultant Cardiologist with sub-specialty expertise in Cardio-Oncology and Imaging (10 Programmed Activities)

This appointment is for a substantive Consultant Cardiologist specialising in Cardio-Oncology and either Cardiac Imaging OR Heart Failure, based at St Bartholomew's Hospital and the Royal Free Hospital.

The appointee will join two internationally recognised cardiac centres to develop and deliver high-quality services in cardio-oncology and advanced imaging/ heart failure. The role supports inpatient and outpatient care, service development, research, and education across Barts Heart Centre (Barts Health NHS Trust) and the Royal Free Hospital (Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust).

The post provides a unique opportunity to shape and expand an integrated cardio-oncology programme across both Trusts, working closely with cardiology, oncology, haemato-oncology, heart failure and imaging teams. There is an expectation for participation in the weekend general cardiology consultant on-call rota (currently 1 in 9).

Applicants wishing to apply for this post should possess the MRCP or equivalent, be GMC-registered with a license to practice and hold specialist registration or be within six months of specialist registration at the interview date.

Main duties of the job

The job plan will contain 10 Programmed Activities per week on average plus weekend on call for general cardiology at Barts Health NHS Trust (currently 1 in 9). It is intended that the post holder will work approximately 8.5 Pas (direct clinical care) per week, and 1.5 Pas (supporting) when averaged through the year. A formal job plan will be agreed between the appointee and Clinical Directors, on behalf of the Medical Director.

Proposed 10 PA model (FT):- 6 Pas Barts Heart Centre (including cardio-oncology clinics, MDTs, and inpatient care and general cardiology).- 4 PAs Royal Free Hospital (cardio-oncology clinics, MDTs, inpatient care and general cardiology).

- 1.5 SPA (from the total above) should be used for supporting activities (audit, teaching, research, CPD).On-call: Participation in the weekend general cardiology consultant on-call rota may be requested (currently 1 in 9).
