37.5 Hrs per Week
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our Mortuary team. This post will be based at Whitechapel but on occasion the successful candidate may be required to visit any of the other sites with a Deceased Holding Unit. The post holder will be required to assist in all aspects of Mortuary Services including post mortem provision for adults, perinatal/paediatric cases and care of the deceased.
You will assist with Porters competency training/ Hospital medical staff inductions and attend meetings with our service users. Potential applicants should pay particular attention to the Job Description and Person Specification for this post to ensure meeting the respective criteria.
Main duties of the job
The mortuary services at Barts Health comprise of one mortuary facility based at the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel and 4 other deceased holding units within the Trust at St Bartholomew's, Newham, Whipps Cross and Mile End.
The Cellular Pathology and Cancer Diagnostics Division provides diagnostic and screening services for the whole of North East London. Our facilities are close to underground and DLR services. The Mortuary service performs approximately 200 post mortems Per annum and is regional referral centre for perinatal cases. The Mortuary is HTA accredited. About us
The NHS East andSouth EastLondon Pathology Partnership is an arms-length organisation providing pathology services to Barts Health NHS Trust, Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust.The Pathology Partnership is hosted by Barts Health. The Pathology Partnership was formed in May 2021.Between 2021 and 2024 the Partnership undertook a complex transformation programme toestablisha single network of laboratories, underpinned by a single Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and single Quality Management System (QMS). The Partnership has a main hub laboratory at the Royal London Hospital and Essential Service Laboratories (ESL) as a minimum at the six other hospital sites served by the Partnership. The Partnership has three operational divisions:
Blood Sciences including Haematology, Blood Transfusion and Biochemistr, Microbiology and Virology and Cellular Pathology and Cancer Diagnostic
The 2024/25 total operating costs across the Partnership were c. £121m per annum with a workforce establishment of circa. 860 WTE.
