Job summary

Clinical Research Fellow in Critical Care Medicine. Barts Health NHS Trust (St Bartholomew's Hospital) Cardiovascular Clinical Academic Group. We seek a Clinical Research Fellow (ST4 equivalent) in Critical Care Medicine. This opportunity is perfect for those seeking a career in intensive care medicine or acute cardiology. We invite applications from trainees and those with a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) who seek additional experience in critical care research before assuming a consultant role. Experience in echocardiography and research training are required. This fellowship will provide successful applicants with training and experience in research methodology, advanced echocardiography, renal ultrasound, and advanced hemodynamic monitoring. The critical care department at St. Bartholomew's Hospital is actively enhancing its research capabilities and participating in various projects and clinical trials. The successful candidate will be expected to assist in advancing the department's research initiatives. The position does not have scheduled clinical responsibilities. Nevertheless, clinical training opportunities may be offered based on the candidate's interests and will align with the research project.

Main duties of the job

The fellowship aims to train individuals in advanced imaging techniques and haemodynamics monitoring. In addition, the fellow will have the opportunity to gain experience in advanced cardiothoracic critical care medicine.The fellow will have the opportunity to gain comprehensive research training, clinical experience, clinical leadership, and education skills.They will be exposed to the range of cardiovascular pathologies encountered in the Barts Heart Centre. The fellow will be encouraged to attend the educational programme, including a weekly core knowledge course and radiology and echocardiography review meetings where feasible. They will be encouraged to participate in relevant national conferences during the fellowship. For interested and motivated individuals, we encourage undertaking an audit and short research projects in critical care.

  • GMC Registration or eligibility
  • Post-graduate training in ICM, Anaesthesia or Cardiology (ST4 level).
  • Post-graduate Qualification relevant to the post.
