Job summary

Within a shared governance framework, the post holder will provide direction for the future of nursing through practice development and education, reflecting the strategic changes in nursing. Through a process of work-based competencies, the post holder will provide continuing support to all grades of staff in their delivery of nursing care packages, in collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams and medical colleagues.

Main duties of the job

o Assume the role of 'Facilitator' to the Medical Ward areas teams/staff providing support for continuing clinical and professional development in the workplace. o Be responsible for the continuing development of evolving competency-based frameworks for Registered Nurses, Registered Nurse Associate, Apprentice Nurse Associates, and Health Care Assistants in monitoring and evaluating its effectiveness. o Through this process of work-based competencies, the post holder will provide continuing support to all Bands of clinical staff in their delivery of nursing care in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team. o Through a process of support/supervision enable the medical area's staff/teams to assess, prescribe/develop, implement, and evaluate standards/programmes of care, providing advice and support to develop methods to evaluate care delivered where required. o Ensure that agreed standards are followed to provide a safe environment for both patients and relatives. o Ensure that effective communication exists between themselves, nursing colleagues, medical staff, multidisciplinary teams, patients and/or their relatives, providing specialist advice and support where appropriate. o Facilitate and participate in research projects and use findings to change practice where appropriate. o Deliver educational programmes in relation to Clinical Practice and Professional Development to support service delivery.
