Job summary
The London Neonatal Transfer Service (NTS) is offering 6-12-month fellowships starting September 2025, with the option to extend by mutual agreement. The posts suit senior middle-grade or post-CCT doctors who seek focused training in neonatal transport together with leadership, quality-improvement and operational experience before consultant appointment.

Main duties of the job
The London Neonatal Transfer Service (NTS) is co-located with the medico-surgical neonatal unit at the Royal London Hospital. NTS provides high-level specialist care to neonates transferred between the 26 units in Greater London and beyond. Transfers into or out of paediatric intensive care units are occasionally required.
The service is road-based but air-capable, providing emergency uplift, palliative care and elective repatriation transfers, as well as occasional round-trip transfers for specialist assessments.
In 2023-24, NTS processed 2340 transfer requests and completed 1903 transfers, including 950 emergency transfers.
The service has been responsible for the highest volume of neonatal transfers for several years compared to other UK neonatal transfer services. There is a dedicated 24/7 NTS consultant available for clinical and operational support.
