Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and motivated Orthopaedic Scrub Nurse or ODP to join our dynamic and supportive theatre team in a Band 6 role at The Royal London Hospital, one of the largest and busiest major trauma centres in London.

The Royal London Hospital operates across 26 Theatres, providing elective and emergency care within a wide variety of specialties including poly-trauma, complex joint operation and major trauma serviced by the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS). We have a well-established team of experienced multidisciplinary practitioners where excellent standards of care are delivered.

The successful candidate will be a registered nurse or ODP with significant experience in orthopaedic trauma and elective surgery, within the scrub role. You will be confident in working within a fast-paced theatre environment and demonstrate a strong commitment to your own professional development. A proven ability to support and guide junior staff is essential, and experience in mentorship would be highly desirable.

Main duties of the job

You will need to be proactive, self-motivated, and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. A clear vision for enhancing patient care and supporting service development is essential. You will be expected to take Nurse-in-charge role and delivering high-quality care during the peri-operative phase, working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team.
