Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with interest in Orthognathic and Skin

We are seeking applications from enthusiastic individuals to our Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) team as a 10 programmed activity (PA). The OMFS team forms part of the Dental Networked Services at Barts Health. We are looking for a motivated team member to join our Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) department. The successful applicant will undertake duties in both minor and major Oral and Maxillofacial surgerynecessitating the management of patients on both an outpatient and inpatientbasis, including management of urgent suspected cancer patients and general OMFS cases. This post holder will also join the consultant on-call rota. There will be scope for development subspecialty interests in line with service requirements.

The role is very busy and will include outpatient management, local and general anaesthetic treatment lists, management of theatre cases (including relevant ward, discharge and post-operative management), supporting service colleagues with management of 18-week RTT and urgent suspected cancer pathways, managing clinical governance processes as required within the OMFS department, delivery of service improvements and planning with operational and nursing colleagues and working closely with senior colleagues and clinicians to deliver exemplary care for our patients. The role will join the consultant on-call rota 1 in 8.
We are looking for an individual with an interest and experience in Skin and orthognathic surgery. The role will be based across the Royal London Dental Hospital and Whipps Cross Hospital.

- Full registration and a license to practice with the United Kingdom General Medical Council (GMC)
- MBBS and BDS or equivalent qualifications
- FDSRCS and FRCS(OMFS) or equivalent qualifications
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery or within 6 months of CCT at time of interview
- Eligible for full General Dental Council (GDC) registration
Desirable
- Peer reviewed clinical research publications
- Hold full General Dental Council (GDC) registration
- Formal teaching or relevant postgraduate qualification
- PhD or equivalent
