Job summary
We are looking for a speech and language therapist who is passionate about working with children and young people with neurodevelopmental difficulties, has an interest in mental health and has experience of completing Autism assessments.
The role is based across two services - ASDAS and TH CAMHS. You will work 3 days a week with the CAMHS Team and 2 days a week with ASDAS. Within ASDAS the post holder would have opportunity to contribute to complex Autism assessments, develop post diagnostic recommendations and advice and contribute to MDTs and team meetings. Within TH CAMHS the post holder would be based within the Neurodevelopmental pathway and would have opportunity to contribute to MDTs, Autism assessments and group programmes (e.g. group for parents of children presenting with behaviours that challenge). The post holder would also have opportunities to shadow other pathways within TH CAMHS.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is an autonomous and highly specialist practitioner who provides assessment, diagnosis and post diagnostic recommendations and plans for children and young people with social communication difficulties and/or a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
S/He will be highly experienced in their knowledge of ASD and will be primarily conducting assessments using:o Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS)o Autism Diagnostic Interviews (ADI-R) / Developmental, Dimensional and Diagnostic Interview (3di)o Formulating diagnoses and providing feedback to parent(s)/carer(s) and schoolso Working in an MDT and supporting the team to formulate and confirm/exclude different diagnoses.
Within TH CAMHS the post holder would contribute to the group programme for parents of children (with diagnosis of ASD and/or LD) presenting with behaviours that challenge.
