Job summary

We are seeking an audiologist to join our Bart's Paediatric Audiology multi-disciplinary teams at Waltham Forest and Redbridge. The services are based at Wood Street Health Care Centre and Loxford Polyclinic. Predominantly a clinical role, this will keep you busy with a full range of paediatric assessment and (re) habilitation challenges, together with some delegated service development responsibilities.

This interesting specialist role will involve working with babies, children and families in our spacious, family-friendly multi-disciplinary centres and taking on the responsibilities of this role within the dynamic working environment at Bart's will enable clinical and personal development.

You should be able to provide evidence working in a patient-centred way, and value supporting children and families through the wider patient journey. You will be confident working with children, both autonomously and as a flexible team-member. The role demands at least 1 years' experience of working in audiology. If you have no Paediatric Audiology experience training will be provided. You must have a minimum of a BSc in Audiology. You should be registered with RCCP, or be registered/close to registration as a clinical scientist with HCPC.

Main duties of the job

Whipps Cross Audiology Service provides Newborn Hearing Screening and a tertiary diagnostic and rehabilitative audiology service to children and adults for the London boroughs of Redbridge and Waltham Forest.

The post-holder must be able to:

Perform specialist diagnostic procedures, and provide a comprehensive specialist hearing aid service to children, including determining care plans for individual patients, and involving carers and families as appropriate

To assist with the day-to-day management for Waltham Forest and Redbridge Paediatric Audiology

To take an active role in areas of clinical audit, research and clinical governance for the Audiology service, which may include designing and completing audits within own field, participating in data collection for larger projects, and contributing to the development of evidence base protocols.

  • To plan and prioritise elements of own workload, within the framework of service delivery priorities as defined by the Clinical Lead and Operational Service Manager, and supervise the work of other members of the team as appropriate, including junior audiologists, trainees and students

  • BSc Audiology OR BTEC qualification in Medical Physics and Physiological Measurement & successfully completed both parts of BAAT I and II (or equivalent)
  • Registered to practice as an Audiologist with the Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists (RCCP)
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of Paediatric Audiology, and advanced Audiological test techniques
  • An awareness of national Audiology and NHS developments
  • Evidence of CPD

Desirable

  • MSc in Audiological Science plus CAC/CCC Or Successful completion of the STP in Audiology
  • Eligible/registered as a clinical scientist with HCPC or on the voluntary register with RCCP
  • Advanced courses in Audiology
  • British Sign Language Qualifications
  • Deaf Awareness Qualifications
  • Membership with the BAA and/or BSA
