Job summary

We are looking for Paediatrics and Neonatology trainees ST3 and above or post CCT specialist trainee in paediatrics or neonatology, starting onwards from September 2025. For those trainees who require an OOPE they are encouraged to apply now as these applications close at the end of February 2025.

This post will be based at The Royal London site and would be suitable for a neonatal specialist or paediatrician with a neonatal specialist interest who would be based within the tertiary neonatal service and/or neonatal transport service

This hospital is part of Barts NHS Trust and they will be encouraged to work on collaborative projects.

The successful post holder for this post will be involved primarily with developing educational opportunities within Neonatology through a wide range of teaching modalities including simulation- based training, clinical skills, lectures, teaching clinics, a bedside teaching to both undergraduate and post graduate medical trainees. Trainees with an interest in developing/establishing digital learning/platform for teaching are welcomed.

Main duties of the job

This exciting and varied role will provide you with multiple opportunities to further develop your teaching skills and your special interests within medical education. You will be actively involved in setting up and delivering as a part of a motivated team a varied teaching program for undergraduate medical trainees and postgraduate paediatric doctors, nurses and allied health professionals within the tertiary neonatal service at RLH. The post will allow you to develop your teaching skills and be able to facilitate small group teaching, teach at the bedside and deliver lectures to multidisciplinary groups.

The post holder will have the opportunity to work across sites with other education fellows. All fellows joining our team will be invited to join our Education Forum where fellows have access to a structured development programme. All our fellows are encouraged to undertake a PG Cert in Education. For those who already have this there will be an opportunity to undertake ILM3 (Leadership & Management Course). Funding will be available towards supporting this.
