We provide medicines management and medicines optimisation services from our four hospital sites across the City of London and East London.
We are looking for motivated and dynamic pharmacists to join the department at Barts Health to participate in the rotational band 7 pharmacist programme. The programme includes 9 month rotations across the four different sites of Royal London hospital, St Bartholomew's hospital, Whipps Cross hospital and Newham hospital.You will work closely with medical and nursing staff and the wider multidisciplinary team on a wide range of medicines optimisation matters, and to ensure standardisation of medicine policies and procedures wherever appropriate.
You will also be expected to contribute to the research agenda working with staff across the Pharmacy department and student placements.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will carry out the full range of duties as a Specialist Pharmacist in Surgery to deliver patient focused, quality care, based primarily at Whipps Cross Hospital.
The pharmacist will provide highly specialist and advanced clinical and professional pharmaceutical services to patients admitted to the Surgical assessment unit (SAU) and the surgical ward areas. The pharmacist will be critical care trained and will support in critical care.
You will be a core member of the Trust's surgical team providing professional pharmaceutical governance, medicines safety, medicines information, medicines finance, education and training and medicines optimisation support to the team and the service's patients. You will build relationships and work with internal stakeholders and external partners to support the delivery of high-quality pharmaceutical care to all patients
The post holder might be required to work across the Trust at any time throughout the duration of his/her contract, which may entail travel and working at a different hospital site or in patients' homes to reflect the requirements and needs of the virtual ward pathway and standard operating procedures.
