We are offering a fantastic career opportunity to a suitably trained and registered individual who is dual trained as an Anaesthetic Nurse or Anaesthetic Practitioner / Recovery Practitioner. You will be a team leader and will help build and enhance the peri-operative and post-operative skills of the Interventional Radiology Department.
Barts Health NHS Trust provides the largest trauma service in the UK and Interventional Radiology is an integral part of that. We use the latest techniques and minimally invasive procedures to provide very safe and effective patient care. Our busy department is part of one of the most comprehensive imaging departments in London and all of our staff work closely together to continually provide a high standard of patient care.
Interventional Radiology is undergoing an expansion including a 24/7 Mechanical Thrombectomy Stroke Service. You will be working in close collaboration with radiologists, radiographers, anaesthetists and anaesthetic practitioners, radiology nurses, ward nurses and theatre nurses, among others, to ensure that our patient's nursing needs and care are met to the highest clinical standards. We can offer you the opportunity to work within different clinical areas such as Interventional Radiology Theatre, Recovery suite, CT, Ultrasound.
Main duties of the job
As an integrated member of the multidisciplinary team the post holder will contribute to the effective day-to-day operation of Barts Health Interventional Radiology Department by providing skilled assistance to clinicians during the administration, maintenance and termination of general, regional or local anaesthetics and also provide skilled care in the recovery suite.
The post holder will work with the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse and multidisciplinary team members in monitoring and maintaining policies, standards of care and staff development as part of the Interventional Radiology Team.
In addition he/she will provide specialist care and/or support and deputise for the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse in the management of the clinical area. This will involve dealing with complex situations and having to take appropriate action in emergency or unforeseen situations.
Participation in the on call rota is required.
