Job summary

The 2 advertised posts will be split between the Royal London and Newham Hospitals within the Department Clinical Haematology, commencing July 2025 for 6 months.

There are currently 3 'FY2 to ST2' level posts which provide cover for Clinical Haematology at these sites, these additional posts are being created to expand the team to enable direct access to patients with sickle cell disease experiencing pain to a pilot dedicated ambulatory care setting.

Main duties of the job

The post would be suitable for junior doctors who wish to gain a period of focussed experience and training in Haematology. The post holders would cross cover and gain experience in diagnosis and management of blood disorders at both Newham and the Royal London site, with opportunity to participate in several outpatient clinics, multidisciplinary meetings, inpatient ward rounds, elective day unit management. The Department has an extensive education programme and FY2-ST2 are encouraged to attend general medical training and specialist haematology education sessions.

The post is part of a full shift rota with 14 doctors participating in night cover (as part of the Hospital at Night Team). The working pattern is copied below for reference.
