Are you passionate about renal and urology pharmacy? Barts Health, one of the largest units in the country, is excited to announce a vacancy for a new Band 8a Pharmacist to join our dynamic pharmacy team.
What You'll Do:o Work closely with the multidisciplinary team, enhancing patient care across both outpatient and inpatient settings.o Engage in varied responsibilities, from supporting renal wards and attending consultant ward rounds to visiting off-site dialysis units.o Work in renal outpatient clinics, prescribing and optimising medications.o Contribute to the training and development of junior pharmacists and medicines management technicians, setting objectives to foster their growth.
Who We're Looking For:Candidates should have experience as a Band 7 Pharmacist, ideally with some renal pharmacy exposure. You should be comfortable collaborating with nursing and medical staff at ward level, contributing to the optimisation of complex medication regimens. Experience in clinics and independent prescribing is a plus, but training will be provided. Familiarity with high-cost drug processes and clinical guideline writing would also be beneficial.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will carry out the full range of duties as the Highly Specialist Pharmacist in renal and urology to deliver patient focused, quality care, based at the Royal London Hospital.
They will promote the responsible, safe and cost-effective prescribing of medicines within renal and urology to optimise clinical outcomes, minimise adverse reactions and improve medicines safety. The post holder will be supporting the Lead Pharmacist in leading a teamof staff in the delivery of a high-quality clinical pharmacy service.
They will support the Lead Pharmacist in managing the professional, clinical and technical input of pharmacy into the renal and urology directorates at the Royal London Hospital and will help deliver the broader medicines optimisation and governance strategy across theTrust. These outcomes will be achieved primarily through leadership of clinical staff, and the publication and implementation of guidelines and procedures to encourage best practice.

The post holder might be required to work across the Trust at any time throughout the duration of their contract, which may entail travel and working at a different hospital site and travelling to satellite dialysis units in Romford and Redbridge.
