Job summary

We are seeking to appoint a locum Consultant Physician/Geriatrician in Older People Services. We welcome applicants with established geriatric experience but would consider those with general medical qualifications and some experience and passion for geriatric medicine. This is a fixed term position while we recruit substantively and is to support a small team trying to re-establish service development during the pandemic. This job is aimed at someone interested in applying for a substantive post at the Royal London Hospital but we would also welcome any individual who is keen to step up to consultant level whilst awaiting a substantive post elsewhere.

The posts offer an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and welcoming consultant team, with ample support provided to new consultants and those with less geriatric experience.

Main duties of the job

These posts will be based at Royal London Hospital where we have a 52 bedded acute geriatrics ward. The successful candidate would be expected to manage a proportion of these patients independently, play an active role in the multi-disciplinary team and be part of the discharge planning process. There are opportunities to get involved in outpatient work, liaison work and the front door frailty pathways depending on interest and expertise. We welcome requests for flexible or less than full time working especially if this enables other speciality or academic working. You require full registration with the General Medical Council with the licence to practice and an established career and training pathway within the NHS is essential.

About us
