Job summary
We are excited to launch an expansion in our team leadership within our Scrub Theatre service at the Royal London Hospital. We are seeking experienced scrub practitioners to join a unique opportunity to lead one of our 21 elective and emergency theatres at one of the largest trauma centres in London.
Our state-of-the-art theatres service elective and emergency specialties and complex procedures, including hepatobiliary, complex ENT, trauma & orthopaedics, reconstructive orthopaedics, neurosurgery, complex vascular surgery, interventional radiology, maxillofacial surgery, robotic procedures, renal transplants, plastic reconstructive surgery, urology and ophthalmic surgery. We also offer paediatric expertise to the major trauma service for Southeast England.
Candidates who meet the criteria will be invited to attend an open day where you will be able to:
- Meet our Theatres team
- Take a tour of our Theatres and surgical and trauma services
- Undertake your assessment and interview on the same day. There will be an in-tray exercise with management and clinical scenarios as part of the interview process
This is an exciting opportunity to be a key part of our leadership, inspiring a safe and efficient peri-operative service. If you are a Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner with NMC or HCPC registration, with experience in a complex theatre environment and are looking to become a leader within our dynamic multidisciplinary team, we would welcome an application from you.
Main duties of the job
This is a key role within our multidisciplinary service, responsible for the operational management and supportive leadership of one of our scrub theatre teams. Therefore, we are seeking scrub practitioners with extensive experience within an acute theatre setting and management experience or demonstrable aptitude toward this.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the operational management of their theatre, including people leadership, budget management, governance, implant and instrument stock management, rota management, procurement and service development (including theatre utilisation, session planning, bed management while coordinating and audits).
