Job summary

Applications are invited for a 10 PA Consultant Chemical Patholgist posts in the Department of Checmial Pathology at Barts Health NHS Trust. This post is a replacement post substantive post.

The appointment is to provide a quality service in Chemical Pathology and lipidology and / or metabolic medicine services. As well as to ensure that the highest clinical standards are maintained and developed through evidence-based practice, embracement of technological advances, CPD and clinical audit, quality and risk management, job planning and appraisal. The post holfer will be expected to work flexibly and productively with team colleagues across all sites served by the ESEL to achieve the strategic clinical, operational and business objectives of the serviceThe post is based in the state-of-the-art Pathology and Pharmacy building at the Royal London hospital in Whitechapel. The department provides a high quality service and the appointee will be a full and active member of the team.

Main duties of the job

Applicants are required to hold full GMC registration with a licence to practice and to be on the GMC's Specialist Register or within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT at the time of interview.

Essential

  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
  • Full FRCPath by examination or evidence of equivalent qualification
  • Full and specialist registration with the General Medical Council (or be eligible for registration within six months of date of interview
  • Applicants who are UK trained must also be holders of a certificate of completion of training (CCT) in Chemical Pathology +- Metabolic medicine, or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview
  • Applicants who are non-UK trained will be expected to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT.

Desirable

  • MRCP or evidence of equivalent qualification
  • PhD or research MD

Skills knowledge and experience

  • Ability to manage complex lipid and/or metabolic medicine disorders
