Job summary
This fellowship offers the opportunity to train in Neuro-oncology surgery at Barts Health and BHRUT hospitals. The Neuro-oncology Fellow is an integral member of the Neuro-oncology MDT and excellent team working and leadership skills are required.
This role includes a Tier 2 on-call commitment at The Royal London Hospital, and an elective operating schedule at both The Royal London and Queen's Hospitals.
The successful applicant will be supported in their career development to undertake a leadership role in clinical governance and service development, and they will be supported to undertake clinical research in Neuro-oncology, including recruitment of patients to clinical trials.

Main duties of the job
On call and emergency operating
In addition to the general neurosurgical on call at The Royal London Hospital, as a senior fellow supervising an ST3 trainee out of hours, the Neuro-oncology Fellow will take an active interest in acutely referred oncology cases, coordinating their neurosurgical care.
Neuro-oncology Ward Patients
The Neuro-oncology Fellow will regularly review pre- and post-operative neuro-oncology patients.
Neuro-oncology Clinics
The Neuro-oncology Fellow will regularly attend the weekly multidisciplinary Neuro-oncology Clinic held at St Bartholemew's Hospital.
Neuro-oncology MDT
The fellow will actively participate in the weekly joint BHR/Barts Neuro-oncology MDT, including vetting referrals and supporting the MDT coordinator.
Clinical Governance
The Neuro-oncology Fellow is expected to prepare and present cases at morbidity and mortality meetings and undertake/supervise clinical audit. All surgical morbidities are reviewed in the monthly Neurosurgery M&M meeting.
