One 12 Months Fixed Term Contract
Due to natural progression within the wider Barts Health Group and beyond, we are looking for bright and talented Finance Managers to join the busy and dynamic finance team at the Newham Hospital site.
Supporting a broad and varied portfolio of clinical services, you will work closely with highly engaged clinical service teams at the top of their game - providing them with financial advice and support and enabling them to provide the best care to their patients. As Finance Manager, you will be part of a team which truly makes a difference to the patient population of Newham Hospital, one of the most diverse boroughs of London with a rapidly growing population.
The team are seeking bright, thoughtful and proactive candidates who will be able to efficiently support the challenges of the operational and clinical teams. We are looking for individuals with sound financial management experience, who are keen to challenge ideas and report the financial position in a way that gives real insight and leads to change, building key relationships and solving problems.
The role will require you to produce accurate and timely monthly performance reports which will be used at service board meetings to then determine the Trust's position for corporate reporting. The reports you produce should support decision making and help signpost where financial improvements can be made.
Proposed interview date: 12th October 2024
Main duties of the job
You will be proactive with strong analytical skills to be able to support the Head of Finance with the forecasting and the preparation of board reports. The post holder will hold a recognised CCAB qualification as well as financial management experience as a demonstration of their commitment to developing within this role.
Your main responsibilities will include supporting the Head of Finance to provide financial support to the clinical teams. Other duties include:
Managing the finance team to prepare detailed, consolidated financial performance reports
Managing the monthly I&E position e.g. forecasts to year-end, steering operational managers/clinicians into taking corrective action etc.
Reporting on financial issues at relevant management meetings and service area reviews and making recommendations
Meeting regularly with senior leaders and successfully articulating complex information and analysis and resolving queries
Identifying opportunities for efficiencies and providing advice on how to improve the business unit's performance
Monthly management accounts, budgeting, forecasting and adhering to internal and external deadlines.
The right candidate will have a 'can do' attitude and have the resilience to support a busy hospital - as one of the most financially challenged hospitals within the Barts Health Group, there is maximum potential to execute positive change and drive forward improvement.
