Location: Based at Royal London Hospital but may be required to travel to all sites within Barts Health NHS Trust

Our group of hospitals provide a huge range of clinical services to people in east London and beyond. We operate from four major hospital sites (The Royal London, St Bartholomew's, Whipps Cross and Newham) and a number of community locations, including Mile End hospital. Around 2.5 million people living in east London look to our services to provide them with the healthcare they need.

We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Senior Quality Control Analyst, Band 5-6 (progression post) at Pharmacy Technical Services within the Quality team based at Royal London Hospital Pharmacy and Pathology Building (but will be required to travel to all sites within Barts Health NHS Trust).

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work within the Quality Assurance team, providing technical leadership-specifically within chemistry testing of all samples supporting production and implementing process improvements through development within the team.

This is a novel post where the post holder will initially start at band 5 and progress on to band 6 once the objectives and competencies set have been achieved and signed off over a twenty-four-month period. Some of these will be specific to leadership and management.

Training and support will be provided by the department to achieve the competencies and progress on to the band 6 role.

Essential

  • BSc in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Science or equivalent scientific BSc

Desirable

  • Postgraduate qualification in Chemistry or equivalent
  • Project management certificate
  • Train the trainer
  • Six Sigma certification or equivalent

Experience

Essential

  • Extensive experience in GMP pharmaceutical chemistry (aseptic facilities in industry or NHS manufacturing unit or GLP laboratory)
  • Previous experience of supervising staff.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing chemistry support to the Quality team.
  • Previous experience in QMS such as deviations, investigation, CAPAs and change controls.

Desirable

  • Experience in GMP pharmaceutical microbiology
  • Previous experience of training staff in practical analytical skills

  • Strong knowledge of cGMP/GLP, Chemistry Quality Control and all current legislations and regulations.
